And it's hot. At least I have a giant pile of library books through
which to work as I loll about under the fan.

I had an impulse buy last week. A nice feijoa which i
plan to plant along the stone wall when the frost is
off the ground.

How lovely!

My lily patch has just about bloomed itself out. Only the tigers have
remaining buds. We have a fabulous little rose. The flowers start out
as a lovely shade of yellow and change to a lipstick red before they're
finished. The zinnias are starting to bloom, the sunflowers are huge
and portulaca and moss rose are lighting up the borders. We've had
enough rain to assure a lovely, if steamy June.

"Forty Rules of Love" by Elif Shafak
"No Country for Old Men" by Cormac McCarthy
"The Gates of Hell Are About to Open" by John Connolly
"The Gospel of Judas" by Simon Wawer
and "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova.

I've read "The Historian" before. However, I dashed through it madly to
see how it ended and I'm sure I missed a detail or two. It's a book
well worth a second read.

I'll have to make another library trip tomorrow night. Beloved is
having surgery on Friday and I'll have to have plenty of books to keep
my occupied over the weekend. He'll be too drugged for anything other
than very silly conversation. Television is stone-cold boring and The
Wonders will be out celebrating Independence day with potato canons and
various other explosive things. I'll simply have to entertain myself.
Fortunately, there are so many things to read!

What are you reading, Madame Meg?
